What is the Promoting Interoperability Program?

In 2011, CMS established the Medicare & Medicaid EHR Incentive Program (now known as Promoting Interoperability Programs) to encourage eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and CAH’s to adopt, implement, upgrade and demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health record technology.

Who is eligible to participate?

  • Eligible providers (EP’s) who have >30% Medicaid visits out of total visits performed
  • Providers who have registered to enter the program by the end of 2016 and completed Year 1 of the program.
  • Using 2015 edition certified EHR
  • Promoting Interoperability Program ends December 31, 2021.
